Is what my endocrinologist said to me at our appointment last Tuesday. She assured me she had tested me for everything within her power to test for but she can only test for things associated with known diseases and she had nothing else to look into.  I shared with her my concerns about nutritional deficiencies besides the vitamin D and she agreed–they have to be there–but she assured me she can’t be the one to test for it.  She told me, very sincerely, that she encouraged me to find a good naturopath and see if they could help me–and to please come back to her and share what they did if they were able to help. She really is a wonderful woman and a fantastic doctor.

So this is the beginning of my journey with a naturopath–that started Friday :)

Here is what Western Medicine was able to find and confirm:

extreme vitamin D deficiency due to malabsorption that led to osteopenia and hyperparathyroid. With 100,000 IU a week we were able to reverse the hyperparathyroid (little mini party :D )

diabetes insipidus–unlike sugar diabetes this literally means “weak urine”.  MRI’s with contrast have confirmed that the posterior lobe of my pituitary gland is dark which means that it is not producig the hormone that tells my kidneys to concentrate my urine.  This means that before starting DDAVP nasal spray I was drinking 330 ounces of water a day, 4 cups of coffee and 2 sodas and peeing every 20 minutes including 3-5 times a night.  I take a nasal spray that replaces the hormone, once in the morning and once at night, and it’s so much better!

So a big *thank you* to Western Medicine :)

What I’m left with:

diagnosed fibromyalgia that has no cure and the only things I can be given are painkillers and muscle relaxants

chronic fatigue–no cure and the muscle relaxants and painkillers are NOT helping here ;)

bad allergies

weight going up unexplained

horrible menstrual cycle with overproduction of oxytocin (they do have me on Ponstel Kapseal for that) and thyroid labs that are ALL OVER THE PLACE. One month 3.69, next month 1.69, and periods that are so heavy they want to do an ablation

migraines–am being treated with Imitrex and since I went off the birth conrol pills (mid-level attempt to control the bleeding between nothing and ablation) they have gotten a lot better but I still go through a panel a month

and a lot of weird things: edema (can’t keep urine in my kidneys but prefer to store it in my ankles apparently :P ), at least 8 anomolies on the right side of my body, extreme pain, etc.

So I  met with Dr. Freeze at West Valley Naturopathic Center and she is adorable.  What a kind, sweet person and she was genuinely concerned about all I’ve been through and figuring it all out. After we talked for well over an hour she said she had narrowed it down to 4″systems” that are not working properly–which she even admitted was intense for one person–usually problems are more located in one, *maybe* two systems.

Amazingly the 4 things she shared are the same 4 things I’d narrowed it down to and when I told her that and she saw what I’m already doing she said that I’d done amazing on my own to unwrap this mystery I live in and everything I’m doing is what she’d have  me do–but she can do more *crying happy tears by this point*

1) My adrenals are tapped out–so we started some support for them

2) My hormones are all over the place–we started with progesterone cream and will be seeing how that works in the dosagre she suggested throughout the month

3) My liver is doing NOTHING in the second phase so I’m on a cleanse, liver support, and am taking digestive enzymes and apple cider vinegar before meals or anything I need to digest. The interesting thing I realized is that the liver is on the right side of the body and that is where I have all my anomolies. I also learned that my great grandmother died of liver failure (and she was not a drinker) and all the women (including my mother–thanks for the heads’ up, mom!) have liver problems ARGH so I am no longer surprised that all this freaky stuff is going on with my right side. Apparently I just don’t flush toxins–at all.

4) She agrees my vitamins and minerare are who on earth knows where so the one test we are starting with is a full panel of vitamin and mineral levels. I go in for the blood draw tomorrow!

5) Not a “system” but since there is no cure for fibromyalgia she put me on a fibro symptom treatment that her patients have all had nearly complete symptom relief from–I’m really near crying by now!

she said to give things up to a week to start building up in my system and having full impact but I told her one of the things that’s interesting about my body  is that I feel the effect of things immediately!  but if I stop taking them they are gone immediately–because I also don’t store things properly.

So the journey begins.  Yes, I’m feeling better already–including less depressed because I’m hopeful.
