From a spanking fetishist. Now, I’m always on the lookout for emails/contact from this kind of person because of what I do. It’s why the PCAP and the PPD list are moderated for new members! But this was different. This was from a person who wanted to make myself (and several other anti-spanking advocates) aware of a statement by a man on a fetish site in a discussion of how and when those posting there becamse aware of their fetish. I went and read the discussion and it was very interesting. The post that had prompted this gentleman to contact us was written by an individual who said they had been occasionally spanked as a child and it was no big deal until their parents were given the book “The Strong Willed Child” by Dobson and they spent several months implementing the ritual spankings advocated for in the book. Not only did he begin to feel strange about the spankings and look forward to them, but he would sneak the book and read some of the accounts of spankings over and over and find himself excited by them. Even though his parents eventually abandoned the methods advocated by Dobson, the fetish was entrenched. The child was 9 at the time!!!

The gentleman who was drawing our attention to this also offered for us to point to him as a reason to not spank. He has struggled his entire life with having a fetish that he doesn’t need to have. And he thanked us for the work we are doing trying to stop children from being spanked.

TBH, the letter broke my heart. And what I found most telling was the people sharing their stories who mostly said their fetish began as a child and was related to either being spanked or witnessing/overhearing/knowing about other children being spanked.

Very interesting.
